About New Hong Kong Wok

Located at 5019 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95822, New Hong Kong Wok operates as a chinese restaurant serving Sacramento in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Sacramento; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (916) 454-2828. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is newhongkongwoksc.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

With 3.9 out of 5 on Google from 397 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for chinese restaurants in Sacramento. Recent reviews are the best guide.

Sacramento is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Sacramento is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Under new management and we happened to be in the shopping complex. Lighting looked brighter, remodeled some of the inside. It’s not as good as before. Service was poor. There was nobody in the restaurant and we were ignored to order. Fish ma tofu soup lacked flavor. Kids liked the chow mein noodles. They didn’t bring us the white rice but we got that removed from the bill. We looked for the to go containers and even as the waitress saw us boxing our stuff up she just looked and walked past us. Food was sub par and service was equally as bad. There are lots of other Chinese food options nearby to choose from.

Under a new management with new owners and cooks too. I went today to try their family dinner $68 dinner special. . Comes with steamed chicken with scallion ginger sauce and i love this chicken, good with steam rice. . deep fry flounder fish - crispy deep fry and good sweet savory soy sauce. . stir fry beef mushroom with green beans - a good stir fry dish to go with rice and has maggy soy sauce which is really good. . Soup of the day - comes with veggie soup with yam and veggies. . Peking ribs - great pork ribs and coated with a red sweet tangey sauce. . Loved the black mushroom with mustard green. A good veggie stir fry. . Overall the deal is a great deal and easily feed 3 to 4 people. Loved the combination of flavors and entree. Also great decor and service too. Cant wait to come back and try more other options. Hope this helps ans thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.

We visited New Hong Kong Wok after seeing the “new management” sign driving by a few days ago, as we’ve been here before and had a bad experience hoping to give it a second chance. They advertised that they were offering Dim Sum with the new management,so that’s what we came for. Sat down , asked for the dim sum menu, then when we were ready to order, the waiter said half the menu was not available, could of told us you didn’t have it when we asked for the menu? The store was not busy , maybe 2 other tables, they could not have sold out while we were thinking of what to order. From here on, the disappointment just stuck, since we came here expecting dim sum. After that we decided not to order dim sum and get their regular menu. One of the items we ordered was PEKING DUCK. What we got? ROAST DUCK. Now if you’ve had these two before , there is a difference. Peking duck is silces of meat with the skin , deboned, paired with scallions, bun, and hoisin sauce. You should not be munching on bones. We confronted the waiter that this is not Peking Duck, what we got was half roasted duck and they took the skin off and fried it, some of the skin don’t even match the corresponding meat/bone t

Found this hidden gem on the way back from Lake Tahoe to the Bay Area. Very authentic Hong Kong style restaurant. When you hear most customers speaks Cantonese here so you know this place is authentic. We ordered beef chow fen and braised cod fish and tofu. It’s a wonderful hearty meal after 3 days of cold weather in the mountains. Also the waiters here are very sweet, give us free dessert after the meal and kindly packed the leftovers for us. I would come back again.
